[Taiwan 2021 semiconductor output value hits $146 billion]

The production value of Taiwan’s semiconductor industry totalled NT$4.08 trillion (US$146.76 billion) in 2021, representing a 26.7 percent year-on-year increase, the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) reported on Thursday.

ITRI forecast that the figure will grow a further 17.7 percent this year to reach NT$4.8 trillion amid strong global demand for semiconductors.
