Inflation in June seen to rebound
Aggregated Source: Shanghai Daily: Business

CHINA'S inflation may rebound in June due to a low comparative base a year earlier and also due to higher prices of pork, analysts said yesterday.

Tang Jianwei, an economist at the Bank of Communications, said the Consumer Price Index, the main gauge of inflation, may rise between 2.4 percent and 2.8 percent in June.

Zhou Hao, an economist at Australia & New Zealand Banking Group, said the inflation may rebound to 2.6 percent last month.

Both projections are higher than the 2.1 percent rise in May.

"The biggest trigger for June's higher inflation is the low comparative base a year earlier," Zhou said. In June 2012, inflation rose 2.2 percent, easing from the 3 percent gain in May last year.
