HEWLETT-PACKARD is adopting a "new IT style" as it shifts its focus to mobility, security, cloud computing and big data to transform itself from just personal-computer vendor.
Meg Whitman, chief executive of HP, emphasized the "new style and demand of IT" in her speech in Beijng yesterday as she signaled that the world's No. 1 PC maker is diversifying its business amid a decline in global PC sales.
The new shift also included expanding production of computer servers in Shanghai and opening a cloud computing center in Tianjin. Shifting to a new focus is also what other PC makers are doing.
Information technology remains a defining power that can change daily lives and business in the new age of computing, Whitman said.
