MORE than 3,000 Shanghai residents have applied to test 4G service, which provides 20-50 times faster Internet access speed for mobile phone users compared with the current 3G service, only four days after China Mobile started to receive applications, Shanghai Daily learned yesterday.
From June 1, users can apply for the 4G service through a Shanghai Mobile website. The selected testers can use devices of MiFi, a portable Wi-Fi signal sender, 4G data card or family-used 4G router. They will enjoy 15 gigabytes of online data traffic every month for free during the half-year trial.
